Everything you need to know about getting paid with GosentePay.
What is GosentePay?
GosentePay is a payment gateway for Ugandan businesses. It gives you a single API to collect mobile money deposits (via STK push) and send withdrawals to MTN MoMo and Airtel Money wallets, with real-time callbacks and instant wallet credits.
Which networks do you support?
We currently support MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money in Uganda, settled in Ugandan Shillings (UGX). Payments are processed securely through licensed payment infrastructure.
How much does it cost?
There are no monthly or setup fees, and collecting money is completely free — the full deposit amount is credited to your wallet. You only pay when you withdraw, on a tiered scale starting at UGX 1,100 (for amounts up to 60,000). See our pricing page for the full fee table.
How do I start accepting payments?
Create a free account, verify your business with a national ID or passport, then copy your API key and secret key from the dashboard. Make your first POST to the deposit endpoint and you're live — most developers integrate within a day.
What's the difference between my API key and secret key?
Your API key is used to generate a short-lived Bearer token for authenticating requests. Your secret key identifies your merchant account on each transaction and should be kept private and used only server-side. You can view both in your dashboard under API Keys.
What happens if a payment fails?
For deposits, your wallet is only credited on confirmed success. For withdrawals, we pre-debit your wallet then attempt the transfer; if it fails, the amount and the service fee are automatically refunded to your wallet. Either way, a callback is fired to your server.
How long does verification take?
Most accounts are reviewed and approved within 24 hours after you upload your identity documents. You'll receive an email once your account is active.
Do you have a sandbox for testing?
Yes. New accounts start in SandBox mode so you can test the full deposit and withdrawal flow before going live. You can switch your API key status from the dashboard once you're ready.
